Description: This research addresses the relationship between ambience and aging, reflecting the humanization and perception of people’s emotional and functional performance through the elements that constitute the local ambience. Human aging is a process in which time is the limiting step, whether as a child, adult or elderly, starting at birth and ending at death. The way people experience each stage and submit to events is what characterizes them, so the time factor is as subjective as the relationship between getting and feeling old. In this process the physical, biological, psychological and social aspects are preponderant to the effects of age, individually and specifically. For the approach to each aging person, their preferences and symptomatic recurrences should be taken into account, so that they realize that the choices made have a consequence over time, favoring the health and well-being of the individual. that promotes the quality of life of the community. The research analyzes the processes of housing care for the institutionalized elderly of Joinville, analyzing the public policy processes for housing care for the elderly. To this end, we discuss the conflicts between the possibility of preserving the elderly in their homes and the need and feasibility of care for the institutionalized elderly. Growing old is a normal life situation, however aging with quality of life is one of the fundamental factors during this journey, so housing is a contribution to the well-being of the individual. For many elderly people, the social space ends up being all they have, and it is important to highlight the ties established with objects, people and the environment to maintain their balance and their own identity.
